Artscene April 2022 Edition

Arts on Main Gallery
Preparing the front of Arts on Main Gallery at 223 Main Street in Picton for the new signage.

Arts on Main Gallery is thrilled to be throwing open its doors once again, returning to their exact same location at 223 Main Street in Picton – located on the sunny side of the street across from The Regent Theatre.

They will open the season with Revival, a group exhibition featuring work by 24 artists. In one word, revival expresses the Gallery’s rebirth (although Arts on Main still had a presence in the community thanks to art shows at The Waring House, and their online gallery, which will remain). This show is about newness, a new beginning – an exciting time having come out of a period of darkness and being re-energized to create art. And what better time to celebrate the theme of revival than springtime?

The opportunity to “return home” is an exciting, new start for Arts on Main. In addition to many returning members, there will be several new artists joining this valuable community cooperative. Arts on Main Gallery presents original works of art and unique fine crafts all created by local County artists.

Revival will feature a large range of art, from abstract, contemporary and landscape paintings, to jewelry, wire creations, wooden works, glass works, fibre art, ceramics and pottery, and more. Artists include Christine Giavarini, Martin Soldat, Barb Högenauer, Judy Plomer, Dayna Law, Dianne Kehoe, Diane Cole, Pam Carter, Iris Casey, John Gregg, Pat Hayes, David Drown, Esther Gray, Richard Leach, Noella Noel, Ron Pickering, Vicki Sharp, Andrea Pyman, Terry Veevers, Ann Wood, Guðrún Gallo, Hannah Melnyk, Florence Chik-Lau and Mark Armstrong.

In a new special section of the gallery called “The Back Room,” the work of guest artists will be featured. Each show will last six weeks and may include more than one guest artist. Stay tuned in late April/early May for a fundraising show where all proceeds will be donated to aid Ukraine via the Red Cross.

As of April 1st, the Gallery will be open daily, 10 AM-5 PM.
