Introducing Kate Golding
About Florence Chik-Lau

I strive to capture the form, the texture, the character, and, above all, the spirit of the animal in my sculptures. My animal subjects often show human emotions and tell stories as well. My process of creating is very organic and the element of chance are allowed to influence the posture and the attitude of the finished sculpture. Beneath the gentle and beguiling exterior, I hope something deeper and knowing is captured in the animal’s gesture and expression. Over the last decade, my award winning animal sculptures have been shown in many jury shows such as the McMichael Autumn Art Sale, Toronto Outdoor Art Fair, and the Art in the County.

I also create lyrical, semi abstract seascapes and landscapes. Inspired by nature, my expressive multi media acrylic paintings are layered, vibrant yet calm, complex and simple at the same time. Using unconventional techniques and vivid imagination, I strive to capture what I feel rather than what my eyes see.

My paintings have been selected to show at the McMichael Autumn Art Sale, Art in the County, Seascapes International Art Contest by Artists, and the Canadian Society of Artists 55th Open International Juried Exhibition. In 2023, I was honoured to be elected to the Society of Canadian Artist.
