ANDARA Gallery is pleased to announce its upcoming show, BOTANICA, an exhibition and sale of fine art paintings and photography-based digital art by proud Canadian artists Andrew Csafordi and Tara Wilkinson.
Inspired by nature and their love of flowers and gardens, the show features a collection of new works that are bursting with colour, texture and creativity. The show runs from Friday, May 16th to Sunday, August 31st, 2025. The Open House reception is Saturday, May 17th from 11 AM to 2 PM.
The timing for this show is also intentional. The current political climate and residual impacts from the recent global pandemic are being felt around the world and are having an enormous affect on our collective well-being and emotional health.
As community leaders with a mantra to find ways to support the greater good, Tara and Andrew are inspired by the words of Joni Mitchell’s song “Woodstock” when planning their next show: “We’ve got to get ourselves back to the garden.”
Recognizing the power of nature connectedness and its healing qualities, they set about to create a show at ANDARA Gallery that will also provide a sanctuary for one and all.
“Art brings people together and fosters a sense of community,” says ANDARA Gallery co-owner, Tara Wilkinson. “Living and looking at art – whether in your home or workspace – reduces stress and anxiety and nurtures feelings of comfort, positivity and well-being.” She adds, “Reconnecting with the natural world restores peace, equilibrium and joy and brings about a sense of awe and wonder. It reminds us of the harmony in nature, and the interconnectivity of all living things. Our hope is that a visit to the gallery to see this colourful new show BOTANICA will lift and fill everyone’s spirits.”
Andrew’s encaustic paintings use melted beeswax medium, demar resin and oil pigments to create layers of rich colours, textures and depth. His latest impressionist paintings of flora, gardens and windswept vistas will bring joy to the human spirit while inviting the viewer to lean in closer to explore all the subtleties.
Each image in Tara’s latest collection is photography-based. She then applies digital tools, like paint brushes, to transform her images into other-worldly works of art. For this collection, Tara explores the tension between the darkness and the light, reflecting her own struggle to find a way through anxiety back to the surface.
ANDARA Gallery was recently ranked by Tripadvisor on their list of the Ten Best Ontario Art Galleries for 2025, along with the McMichael Canadian Art Collection and the Ottawa Art Gallery.
