Call for Applications: Alchemy Artist Residency Summer 2027

ALCHEMY is an artist-led international residency carefully designed to connect artists, place, and community through studio work, lively salon style suppers, and site-specific exploration.

Through community engagement and a commitment to collaborative process, we collect, tell, and document multiple stories in a unique community setting. Founded in 2015 on the Toronto Islands, Alchemy’s pillars are food, art, garden and table — all inspired by the original gardens and community at the Centre. Shared meals, artist talks, studio visits, and dialogue with community members and guest artists all contribute to an inspiring time in a magical setting. This Residency is designed for artists to focus on their practice and learn from others in a respectful and supportive studio environment. Artists whose practices explore the intersections of art, food, collective well-being, and community—or who are curious about how these ideas can inform their work—are especially encouraged to apply.

Waupoos Island is a peaceful artist retreat on a small secluded Island located 10 minutes by boat from Prince Edward County. On the Island, artists have access to studio space in a former Church, 1000 feet of shoreline outside their door, a private bedroom with shared common spaces in bright, clean, comfortable three bedroom cottages at Waupoos Island Camp.
