Blizzmax Gallery presents Pathetic Fallacy, a two person exhibition of new drawings, prints and paintings by Tomas Del Balso and Hri Neil that focus on their shared connection to nature, projecting their personal emotions and perspectives onto the subjects of their work.

The exhibition opens August 22nd and runs until September 22nd, 2024. All are invited to the Opening Reception from 6-9 PM on Thursday, August 22nd. The Gallery will be open 12-6 PM Saturdays and Sundays or by appointment by calling (613) 476-7748.

Hri Neil is a multidisciplinary artist and curator focused on sound, video, installation, and performance. His work has been shown both nationally and internationally, including performances for the Art Gallery of Ontario and the Museum of Contemporary Canadian Art. In addition to focusing on his independent art practice and curatorial projects, he has held a variety of roles within the artist-run, public and private art and design spheres. Hri is committed to making space for contemporary art in The County, and he owned and operated Carbon Art & Design in downtown Picton (2018-2024). Hri is currently Project Coordinator for The Department of Illumination.

Tomas Del Balso holds a BFA and a Major in Drawing and Painting from OCAD. He founded Toronto experimental DYI-art-no-wave musical group dd/mm/yyyy and created countless artworks associated with the band’s endless tour schedule covering Canada, the USA, the UK, Europe Hong Kong. He emphasizes drawing as a foundation to the multitude of mediums he utilizes within his work, including screen printing, watercolour, acrylic and ink on surfaces ranging from paper, to fabric, wood and aluminum. In 2023, Tomas was awarded County Arts’ Public Art Grant for a mural installation titled “Forever Wild.” The multi-panel series features imagery of wildlife native to Prince Edward County on 400 square feet of Carbon’s exterior walls.
