Give a Little Bit
Give a Little Bit will be held in Melt Studio & Gallery’s Main Gallery (pictured) from November 26-December 26.

Melt Studio & Gallery will be celebrating the holiday season with Give a Little Bit, a group show in the Main Gallery from November 26 to December 26.

The show will feature small works of art by local artists and artisans, ranging from handcrafted tables and 3D paper-dioramas, to landscape photography and encaustic paintings – perfect for gift giving!

In the spirit of giving, Melt Studio & Gallery will be hosting a raffle for one of Susan Wallis’ encaustic paintings, with all proceeds being donated to Kenhte:ke Seed Sanctuary and Learning Centre in Tyendinaga.

Support local and give the gift of one-of-a-kind works of art this holiday season. The Gallery will be open Thursdays-Sundays from 11-5 p.m. for the duration of the show.

Artist applications for Give a Little Bit will be open until November 8. As the title suggests, the “theme” of this show is gift-giving. Each artist is asked to produce up to three small-sized works (e.g. under $500). This application is open to artists and artisans in all mediums.

Please submit applications for a maximum of 3 pieces per artist to info@meltstudiogallery.com with “Melt Artists Submission: Give a Little Bit Holiday Show” in the subject line, along with complete contact information: name, phone number, website, and Instagram profile link (if applicable). Only selected artists will be notified.

Also in the Gallery this month:

Nesting is a collective exhibition featuring works from hand letterpress printer Amanda Keenan and encaustic artist Susan Wallis. The work unifies the artists’ distinctly different mediums under the overarching theme of family, symbolized by nests. Nesting will be shown November 5-December 26 in the In-Unison project room.

The Red Balloon/Le Ballon Rouge is a collective exhibition featuring work by Susan Wallis and artist and illustrator Heather Munro. The artists drew inspiration from the 1956 short film of the same name. Directed by Albert Lamorisse, the 35-minute French film follows a young boy and his red balloon through the streets of the Ménilmontant neighbourhood of Paris. With their vastly different mediums and equally different interpretations of the short film, these artists invite spectators to follow the red balloon and enter a world which entices the imagination. This show runs November 12-December 26.

Meet the artists for both shows on November 20 from 1-4PM. For further details, visit Melt Studio & Gallery’s website.
