Melt Studio and Gallery presents a new solo show from Lakefield-based abstract artist Kay Gregg.
Aerial Landscapes opens August 4 and runs until August 28 in the Focus Gallery.
“The layers, lines and blocks of colour of this body of work speak to the landscape of my youth, near Malton Airport, at the west end of runway 23R. Family backyards, nearby farms and orchards struggled to hold up against the noisy ambition of mid-century industrialization. Extended runways and widened highways called for expropriation and demolition. With this body of work, paint and pieces from my past are laid on thick and textured- intuitively things are reclaimed and re-purposed and in my own way, I remember.”
