The Department of Illumination‘s Society of Stitchers presents A Seat at the Table, an exhibition of embroidery on display at Macaulay House Museum.
The Society of Stitchers met twice a week for several months over the winter to create embroidery pieces around the theme “A Seat at the Table.” Some stitchers recreated patterns of their family dishware, others stitched recipes, portraits of their ideal dinner guest, or images of their favourite food or drink. While stitching was their medium, the goal was always creating “CommuniTea.”
The exhibition will be shown in the dining room at Macaulay House Museum until June 2nd. Open Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 12-4 PM.
