The Parrott Gallery presents Immigrant, a selection of intimate work by London, Ontario-based artist Rosemary Sloot.
Before her mother died in 2003, Rosemary discovered that her mother’s only regret in life was immigrating to Canada from Holland. Rosemary’s response to this shocking news eventually inspired an exhibition that she calls Immigrant, which travelled throughout Ontario over a decade ago.
This work speaks to the common universal themes of loss, uprootedness, family and individual identity, sacrifice, persistence, hope and faith. Catalogues will be available to purchase.
Rosemary will be giving an Artist Talk at the Gallery on Saturday, August 5th at 2:30 PM. Everyone is welcome to attend this free event. Light refreshments will be served.
Immigrant runs until October 11th in Gallery 1.
