2gallery is pleased to announce a Solo Exhibition by painter John Lennard. John has been exhibiting his work in Canadian and international galleries for over two decades.
An avid admirer and student of international masters, of Canadian painterly traditions and of modern movements, his work reflects the past while presenting itself as thoroughly contemporary. By acknowledging the past, he bends the rules to create a style all his own.
“It’s important for me to look more to the tradition of painting, instead of looking for inspiration in what other contemporary artists are doing. I feel that I can be closer to finding my own voice. If the intent is pure in what you are trying to convey – it has meaning to the viewer. I enjoy seeing a piece that comes out of the tradition of art with one’s own signature.”
This exhibition of recent paintings embodies Lennard’s inquisitive nature and keen observations during recent travels both locally and abroad. He is also a observer of human nature. As we break out of the confines of a global pandemic, we all seem to be seeking a changed experience. A different place to be. A new horizon to head towards. Either emotionally or physically. Or both. Everyone is going somewhere. Including John Lennard.
The show will run until June 5th.
