In the Moment Sketching Alpacas with Megan Fitzgerald

Use alpacas as your inspiration to create expressive or stylized animal illustrations at the serene farm setting of Chetwyn Farms.

In this workshop, Megan takes you through her process of capturing the essence of an animal and its surroundings through various experimental and traditional drawing techniques. Using plein-air easels, each participant will be lead through a series of warm up drawing exercises and learn tips on drawing from observation. After gaining newfound confidence, enjoy the afternoon in the riding ring playing around with pencil, charcoal, and pen to create unique drawings which celebrate these incredible animals.

Megan Fitzgerald (she/her) is an artist working within the realms of expanded painting to extend boundaries of the landscape genre. Her place-responsive practice addresses themes of wonder, transformation and magic. Megan collects objects, grinds earth pigment, stitches textiles, and documents through drawing. After receiving her BFA from OCAD University in 2016, Megan traveled extensively by foot; partaking in curatorial studies in Florence, residencies in Spain, long distance trails in the United Kingdom, and NGO projects in Vietnam. Megan holds an MFA from NSCAD University where she worked as a Research Assistant at the Drawing Lab and later, taught undergraduate courses in drawing and painting. Currently, Megan is living and working in Prince Edward County — she can be found drawing trees, teaching arts workshops and digging in her dye garden.

August 19th, 10 AM – 12 PM. Click here to register for this workshop. Chetwyn Farms, 500 Closson Road, Hillier.
