Canoe Stories Festival 2024 is the culmination of Flight Festival‘s year-long collaboration with JP Longboat and the people of Prince Edward County: a magical evening launching of Longboat’s Spirit Canoes, with oration and live songs and drumming by Nimkii Osawamik and singers.

Flight Festival arose from a vision to create a festival integrating Black, Indigenous and legacy contemporary dance. The Festival values dance as a meeting ground for performance, experience and education that embodies vital social issues, and is changing the landscape of dance in Prince Edward County by creating an annual outdoor festival that features and celebrates works by dynamic artists of diverse backgrounds and practices.
