Al Purdy, as one of Canada’s most beloved poets, has inspired several generations of writers. Pastiche involves writing in the style of another poet to understand how their poems work. Over a three-hour workshop led John Barton, a 2022 Al Purdy A-Frame Fellow, participants will learn about pastiche and other forms of literary tribute, including the cento, glosa, and remix, and will write a poem in the style of or in tribute to Al Purdy.
The emphasis will be on writing a good draft to take home for further work. Participants should bring their favourite poems and books by Al Purdy with them as well as their preferred writing tools. Registration is limited to 10.
This workshop will be held at the PEC Public Library, 208 Main Street, Picton, on July 18 from 1-4 PM. Click here to register.
