Susan Brannigan-Rampp

Author Susan Brannigan-Rampp is a writer and retired educational leader with a varied literary palette and eclectic professional history.

Susan has worked as an educational leader in both Canada and Mexico. She obtained her Master of Education from Framingham State College, MA. At-risk students are near and dear to her heart because they have the courage to keep showing up in the face of frustration. She loves bouncing manuscript ideas off them to keep it real and get their feedback.

As a writer, she has studied at the prestigious Humber School for Writers with Richard Scrimger, the Humber School of Comedy with Lorne Frohman and completed a Screenwriting Skills Master Class with Linda Aronson through the Women in Film and Television Intl. She also worked, in her earlier career life, as Promotion Coordinator for an international TV company in Toronto which led her on repeated jaunts to Cannes, France.

Her poetry was featured in the anthology about Al Purdy, And Left A Place to Stand On, published by Hidden Brook Press. Her short story, Stalling for Time, won third place in the Adult Prose category at The Elora Writers Festival. She notoriously won The Best Liar Award in Belleville for one of her comedic performance selections. Her technology column, The Chatline, appeared in the Intelligencer newspaper for several years.

Susan’s freelance work has appeared in regional and international publications. Her favourite artistic a-frame hideaway in Prince Edward County is where her muse resides at the end of her kayak paddle on Weller’s Bay. Her dramatic short screenplay, Marilyn in the Mirror, has won the Atlanta Women’s Film Festival, been a semi-finalist in the Vancouver Badass Film Festival, received honourable mention in The Santa Barbara International Screenplay Awards and the Best Script Award (London, UK). It has been an Official Selection for both the L.A. Independent Women Film Awards and the Toronto Indie Shorts Film Festival. Also, it was a finalist nominee for the Lonely Wolf International Film Festival in London, England. Her novel, Outlet River, is set in Sandbanks Provincial Park where her family has spent many nights camping together.
