The Sibling Rivalry Studio and Art Gallery is a newcomer to Prince Edward County and the Prince Edward County Arts Council, located near the Barcovan Golf Clubhouse in Carrying Place.
Sibling Rivalry begins with two sisters, Beverly Rosser and Diane Beatty-Wearing. Bev moved to Carrying Place when she retired from the Ontario Government in Toronto as Director of Pay Equity. Bev chose her next focus, painting, and invited her sister to come and work together. Diane is an artist and Educator from Hamilton, their birthplace. Together and back and forth they worked on the same subject matter to improve Bev’s technique. One Christmas, Bev presented her husband with a painting, that he believed was Diane’s. After that, the women pursued their own subject matter, working together or apart.
The amassing of many works gave the siblings a great idea, so in September of 2023, Sibling Rivalry Studio and Art Gallery had its opening, and the endeavour was celebrated with many family and friends.
Sibling Rivalry is a three-season place. The Gallery opens in April, and closes at the end of November. Every third weekend of the month, the Gallery will be open from 11 AM until 4 PM. In the future the sisters hope to invite new artists to work with them in studio during the week before the opening weekends.
