As a career artist for 35 years, Pierre’s passion is to create glass objects that inspire. Light. Reflection and refraction. He calls “internal landscape” how light enters and plays within a glass body. Mastering the physical demands of the art form involves embracing the natural force of gravity, and all the physical properties of glass, to transform elementary materials into those imaginary objects that the mind construes. Casting, fusing, slumping and cold working glass are all methods he uses. He completed a science degree in mathematics, an inter-related arts degree, and a masters in educational technology at Concordia University in Montreal, Quebec. Pierre began his career creating glass art in 1992 while a graphic designer using CAD programs. He is self-taught by experimenting and researching technical approaches to glass making. He owns a glass studio in Wellington, Prince Edward County known as SilverBarn. Pierre’s work has been exhibited in galleries and museums in both Canada and in the U.S. including the Museum of Arts and Design in New York and the National Liberty Museum in Philadelphia.
