Mira Barnes was born in Ottawa but her family moved to PEC when she was 6 years old. Starting her creative journey into the arts at a young age, Mira began drawing and painting and showing her work to her family. While attending Pinecrest Elementary School, Mira also attended arts summer camps such as the Baxter Arts Camp and IMPACT Arts Camp, which exposed her to various new mediums such as sculpting and watercolour painting.
Mira is now 16 years old and currently attending PECI where she enjoys the arts program and tries to include visual arts within all of her school projects. During the pandemic, Mira started experimenting with jewelry making and has sold her jewelry at various youth community events. Mira is also involved with the ROC community center and participated in the Youth Mural Project, 2022. Mira volunteered at IMPACT arts camp as a camp counselor. She is currently working on community projects with the ROC and volunteering with County Arts.
Mira is an emerging artist inspired by portraiture, and saturated colour palettes, flowers, cats, fish and bubbles are common themes in her work. Mira’s goal is to finish up high school and hopefully attend a university to earn a Bachelor of Fine Arts.
