A strong affinity with all things in nature and working closely with breeding and training of animals has had a significant influence on my artwork. Beginning with a traditional style of art work after studying art in college, I then studied and painted plein air resulting in a more painterly, looser style for a number of years.
2010 was my big departure of a traditional style, with the launch of a very successful major exhibition called “Charades”, an exploration and thought-provoking show based on landscapes as metaphors. Focusing on my more recent works reveals yet another transition into the metaphorical surreal, using animal imagery combined with inanimate objects. With a flair for story telling, humour and imagination, I create imagery rich in symbolism and metaphors.
