One of my favourite memories as a child was sketching with my grandmother Winnifred Lindsay. I grew up in Northport, PEC and I was blessed to have her live within walking distance.
It took decades to reconnect with my love of art. An opportunity to participate in Kato Wake’s art class at the Baxter Art Centre in 2016 was the catalyst to ignite a new goal; to have my featured in an art gallery.
In the last few years, I have been seizing chances to enhance my skills and knowledge through education. As a full-time nurse, online classes provide the flexibility I need to advance my techniques. In particular, courses with Melinda Cootsona through engaging distance education provided critique and personal feedback.
Weekend art education with Michelle Reid and Kato Wake enhanced my knowledge of colour, composition and brush techniques.
I am a 4th generation Prince Edward County native, currently living in Picton, Ontario. I specialize in figurative and still life acrylics. My passion lies in pushing my art into bolder more abstract paths with a splash of whimsy.
As a full time nurse, this last year has been tough. Art has brought me much needed respite and distraction . However, my whimsy increasingly has been cut with angst and fatigue. It has been difficult to focus on painting and I have found it hard to see pieces to completion.
At the end of this pandemic, I look forward to bringing new passion and emotions to my art.
