Gwen Shandroski is a Canadian-born visual artist living in Picton, Ontario. She has worked and lived on both coasts and in five provinces. Her work has been shown in galleries in Toronto and the Women’s Art Association of Canada. Her first solo show was in Leslieville in Toronto.
Gwen works as a speech-language pathologist and expressive arts psychotherapist sitting with the quiet and difficult to articulate. Her art holds the tension between the pronounced and the unspoken. Flows of colour are interrupted by a variety of mixed media. Her work explores themes of isolation and connection. A particular interest is in the relationship between opposites and likeness. She is eager to begin painting from her studio on John Street and looks forward to the influence of recent trips to her hometown of Winnipeg.
