The County Arts Lab is an artist-centred community space dedicated to artistic experimentation and creation. Our Main Street location and focus on accessibility puts the arts and artists at the heart of our community. Bridging Communities Project

Bridging Communities

Bridging Communities is a large-scale art installation, where community members are using crocheted knit and fibre to cover downtown Belleville’s Upper Front Street Bridge.

Facilitated by local artist Emebet Belete, workshops are free to attend, and yarn is provided. Open to adults and youth, experienced and beginner crocheters, families and friends.

Art of the Possible

This new speaker series brings together creative minds for captivating conversations exploring the power of the arts to spur innovation and transform our understanding of what is possible – for us and our world. Join us at the County Arts Lab as we engage with the expertise and imagination of artists and innovators from Prince Edward County and beyond.

Join us March 27, 2025 from 7-9pm with artists Valerie CarewLaura MillardStacey Sproule and Landscape Architect, Victoria Taylor for a panel discussion on their work around and in service to the natural world.

Art in the County

The 32nd Annual Show & Sale of work by County Arts members will be presented June 27 – July 13, 2025. See more than 100 works on display in a variety of mediums, including oil, watercolour, encaustic, pastel, mixed media, photography, ceramics, sculpture, and more.

Open daily – weekdays 10-6pm; Sundays 10-5pm; July 13 10-2pm. PWYC admission. Visitors can vote for their favourite work!

The Maker's Hand

The Maker’s Hand is a prestigious fine craft show featuring both established and up-and-coming artists from across Ontario. Since 2004, the show has attracted more than 50,000 visitors from Toronto to Ottawa and beyond. There is a $5 public entry fee that gives visitors access all weekend long.

Location

We are located at 206 Main Street, Unit 2E Picton in the historic Armoury building in downtown Picton.

Accessibility

The County Arts Lab is fully accessible to those entering by The Armoury’s front doors off of Main Street. There is no elevator in the building, so those entering the rear of the building via the Mary Street parking lot must use stairs to access the space.

Parking

On the weekends and evenings, visitors can park in the Armoury lot at the rear of the building on Mary Street. Otherwise, visitors can park on Main Street or in the free municipal lots on the corner of Mary and Elizabeth streets and on King Street adjacent to Benson Park. There is an accessible parking spot across the street from The Armoury as well as in front of the post office (90 meters from the front doors). For further information on parking, please click here.

Bookings

 If you are interested in booking the County Arts Lab for your arts-related event, please click here to see our rates. Once new equipment is in place, including lighting, sound, exhibition, and media arts equipment, as well as a stage, seating for one hundred, and moveable walls to allow the space to be configured for multiple uses, we will begin hosting the performing arts.
