
The County Arts Lab is dedicated to artistic experimentation and creation. Our Main Street location and focus on accessibility puts the arts and artists at the heart of our community.

For this workshop, join artists Chrissy Poitras and Kyle Topping of Spark Box Studio for a practical session on navigating applications to public art open calls. In this workshop, Chrissy and Kyle break down the application process into manageable steps, sharing the tools and strategies they use to develop compelling applications, plan projects, and work within real-world constraints.
Sunday March 22nd, 1-5pm

Bogdan Luca is a Romanian-born artist whose work blends lived reality with dreamlike imagery. His work invites viewers to reconsider the familiar through new perspectives.
Combining interests in movement, fragmentation, and collage methodologies, the work on display brings together studio and plein air paintings in an improvised arrangement. By physically intermingling these approaches, the exhibition explores painting as both image and object.

Join landscape architect Victoria Taylor to understand and discuss the essential technical requirements for public art installation. You will gain a practical understanding of how to structurally support freestanding artworks without wall supports, as well as how to ensure these installations are safe and accessible to the public.
Saturday April 25, 1-5pm

In this workshop, join artist Hannah Doucet to understand processes and approaches to creating community engaged public artworks, and to navigate crafting thoughtful and meaningful projects to undertake with communities that provide space for a wide range of voices and experiences.
Sunday May 3rd, 1-5pm

In this hands-on workshop, join artist Jamie Janx Johnston to learn all about murals from the design process to the final wall. Jamie will define the various roles and complexities in the world of mural production. Participants will acquire the problem solving skills to address every angle of mural production, including a hands-on site evaluation component in small groups.
Saturday May 9th 1-5pm

Established in 1993, Art in the County is a juried art exhibition and sale that has grown in scope and stature, showcasing the highest quality works of art by Prince Edward County artists and artisans. The show features over 100 works in a wide range of media, including watercolour, acrylic, oil, and encaustic paintings, sculpture, textiles, wood, photography, ceramics, glass, and more.

Established in 2004, The Maker’s Hand is a prestigious fine craft show featuring both established and up-and-coming artists from across Ontario & Western Quebec.
In 2026, the show returns to the County Arts Lab, located in the historic Armoury at the heart of the Picton’s bustling Main Street. The show will feature over 25 booths of varying sizes both inside the County Arts Lab, in the adjoining atrium and the outdoor courtyard.

We are located at 206 Main Street, Unit 2E Picton in the historic Armoury building in downtown Picton.
The County Arts Lab is fully accessible to those entering by The Armoury’s front doors off of Main Street. There is no elevator in the building, so those entering the rear of the building via the Mary Street parking lot must use stairs to access the space.
On the weekends and evenings, visitors can park in the Armoury lot at the rear of the building on Mary Street. Otherwise, visitors can park on Main Street or in the free municipal lots on the corner of Mary and Elizabeth streets and on King Street adjacent to Benson Park. There is an accessible parking spot across the street from The Armoury as well as in front of the post office (90 meters from the front doors). For further information on parking, please click here.
If you are interested in booking the County Arts Lab for your arts-related event, please click here to see our rates. Once new equipment is in place, including lighting, sound, exhibition, and media arts equipment, as well as a stage, seating for one hundred, and moveable walls to allow the space to be configured for multiple uses, we will begin hosting the performing arts.
