On Saturday, April 5th, 2025, experience two exciting events taking place with the artist behind the exhibition, Homage, at Wellington Heritage Museum!
Donald A. Stuart, C.M., O.Ont., RCA, MFA, AOCA is one of Canada’s leading gold/silversmiths, with an international reputation for his work in jewellery, hollowware and architectural installations. A graduate of the Ontario College of Art in Toronto, he holds a MFA from the School for American Crafts, Rochester, New York, and has won many prominent awards for his work which can be found in several permanent collections. Professor Emeritus from Georgian College, Barrie, Don is a very active volunteer and teacher. He was inducted as an Academician to the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts in 1985 and, in 2000, received the Order of Ontario. In 2002 he received Canada’s highest honour, the Order of Canada, for his work as an educator and craftsman.
From 2-4 PM, join a fun and creative workshop led by Donald where, with simple tools, you can create a unique cuff bracelet or perhaps a pendant or two. Using bands of alluminum, you will learn how to texture and personalize it into a finished, wearable piece of jewellery. The workshop is suitable for all ages and all materials and tools will be supplied. Tickets are $30 plus fees. Click here to reserve your spot.
Then, at 6 PM, Donald will be taking the stage to speak about Homage and his life’s work in jewellery, hollowware, and architectural installations.
This event will provide attendees the opportunity to meet the artist behind the beautiful neckpieces featured at the Wellington Heritage Museum, and to ask any burning questions they may have for this wonderful Canadian gold and silversmith!
Tickets are by donation. Following Donald’s talk, attendees are welcome to take in the exhibit. Click here to reserve your spot.
