Music at Port Milford

Artscene August 2026 Edition

Music at Port Milford
Music at Port Milford Students.

For four decades, Music at Port Milford has proudly presented esteemed artists in creatively programmed concerts throughout July and August in the heart of Prince Edward County.

Celebrating its 40th summer in 2026, Music at Port Milford has allowed hundreds upon hundreds of young musicians the opportunity to hone their skills as chamber musicians, led by outstanding faculty artists, against the scenery of a peaceful 35-acre former farm on the shores of South Bay, Prince Edward County.

In 1987, Meg Hill and her mother, Doris McLaughlin Goldman, embarked on establishing a summer music program in South Bay, with a vision to create a summer home for young musicians. That summer, they piloted a music program on a newly purchased Milford property, bringing 17 students together for one week of chamber music coaching, orchestra, singing and regular camp activities in the County. The following summer they ran a three-week program. After 6 years, Meg and Doris were employing 14 highly skilled artists to teach and perform, and 6 staff members to serve as counselors, cooks, and lifeguards.

Today, Music at Port Milford encompasses a four-week chamber music academy, a week-long choral day camp, a celebrated artist chamber music series, and a slew of community events. Run by Meg, her daughter Charlotte, and a small, committed volunteer board, the organization looks forward to bringing world-class chamber music to the County for years to come.

Wrapping up this special 40th summer is the Port Milford Chamber Players Concert and Meet + Greet featuring: Marie Bérard and Rohan Gregory, violins; Lukas Shrout and Angela Rudden, violas; Roberta Janzen and Susan Gagnon, celli; Charlotte Hill and Angela Park, piano. This special concert takes place Saturday, August 1st, 2026 at St. Mary Magdalene Church in Picton. Tickets are available online.

On Sunday, August 2nd, 2026 at 2 PM, the final student performance will take place at St. Mary Magdalene, with free admission. This concert is the culmination of the Senior Summer Chamber Music Academy, strings and piano, for youth aged 13-19.
