Winter at the Lab

Artscene January 2023 Edition

Winter at the Lab
Bufflehead Cove by Jodi Shuster

Registration for our winter session at the County Arts Lab is now open! All of our instructors are returning favourites to the Lab, and we have lots of learning opportunities to keep you occupied and inspired during the cold winter months. This session’s got something for everyone – from 1-day workshops to multi-week courses in dance/movement, painting, music, textile arts, and more.

We have three multi-week offerings for adults this session including the return of Creative Movement for Adults with Catelyn Thornton, now taking place at our beautiful County Arts Lab satellite location – the Picton Town Hall. If you were lucky enough to take Catelyn’s course last fall, she is changing up the activities so it’s worth joining us again!

We are also excited to welcome back both Bethany Garner for a unique course exploring ombre in textile art, and Jodi Shuster who will be leading a beginners’ acrylic painting course.

Sherry Heyliger is also returning to teach her popular Acrylic Pouring/Fluid Art workshops with for both beginner and intermediate-level participants on Sunday February 5th for anyone 15+!

For the kiddos, Angela Lavender is back with our Kids’ Creation Club (visual arts) program, running 2 classes on Saturday mornings from 9:30-10:45 (ages 5-8) and 11:15-12:30 (ages 9-12 is already sold out but you can join the waitlist); and Kat Burns and Arwyn Carpenter will guide kids in a fun songwriting and creative dance course on Sunday mornings at our Picton Town Hall location: 9:30-10:45 (ages 5-7) and 11-12:15 (ages 8-12) (slightly longer course on the last day).

We offer sliding scale pricing, free art supply kits for anyone who needs one, and bursaries for children and youth.
