About Arwyn Carpenter

Arwyn (they/them) is a queer dancer, writer and dance educator who is devoted to decolonized art making. Arwyn grew up skipping along the shore of their parents’ home on Salmon Point, with the essence of County land, sky and water as inspiration. To this day, on summer Friday nights, they can be reliably found tearing up the dance floor of The Hayloft. Arwyn holds an MFA in Dance and Choreography from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts and a BEd from U of T’s OISE, and they taught in the Elementary division for the Toronto District School Board for 10 years.

Arwyn is one of five co-creators of Flight Festival PEC, a festival of dance between earth and sky, where communities connect. Arwyn is also proud to be a member of the County Arts Artist Advisory Committee.
