All Welcome Here and The Department of Illumination have teamed up to offer a free, creative workshop: “Where I’m From.” Over the course of two hours, participants will get the chance to explore issues around personal identity in a safe and supportive environment using writing and visual arts. Choose from one of two workshop times: Sunday September 17th from 10 AM until noon, or Monday September 18th from 6 to 8 PM. Workshops will take place in The Department of Illumination studio in the lower level of The Armoury, Picton. Please visit the Eventbrite links to register. All materials plus drinks & snacks will be provided. Space is limited. All are welcome, but these workshops are suited for ages 12+ only.

All Welcome Here is a BIPOC-led non-profit organization focusing on anti-racism in a consciously intersectional way in Prince Edward County (BIPOC: Black, Indigenous and People of Colour). They strive to link people of colour in our rural community in order to provide social connections, business assistance, support and help in building that critical rural network. All Welcome Here works in our wider community in anti-racist advocacy with a focus on education, access & representation, anti-racist actions and events, policing and migrant workers’ issues.

The Department of Illumination was founded in 2013 by a group of County artists who came together to create the Firelight Lantern Festival, and they’ve been lighting up the County ever since! The DOI aims to bring joy and creativity to our community by producing festivals, workshops, and other artistic events. Their company of artists weaves creativity into the fabric of our community, bringing people together for shared experiences of wonder and beauty. A non-profit organization, they strive to be a cultural leader, demonstrating excellence and innovation in rural arts.
