This July, Festival Players presents the world premiere of their theatrical concert, The Shape of Home, performed in the historic and iconic Red Barn at The Eddie. This intimate show is not only a tribute to a great Canadian artist, it’s a musical call to action – an adamant prompt to live fully, to love deeply, to challenge actively and to seek beauty everywhere.

Some of Canada’s most innovative theatre creators and songwriters have collaborated to create this bold adaptation of Al Purdy’s poetry into a spell-binding musical chronicle of his life and work.

The Shape of Home team includes the following celebrated artists: Frank Cox-O’Connell (award-winning director, performer & musician); Beau Dixon (from last season’s Under Springhill); Hailey Gillis (acclaimed for Crow’s Ghost Quartet & Soulpepper’s Rose); Marni Jackson (journalist and co-writer of the acclaimed documentary, Al Purdy was Here); Raha Javanfar (renowned performer, violinist and lighting designer); and Andrew Penner (award-winning multi-instrumentalist and composer and member of the alternative country band Sunparlour Players).
