This past summer marked the launch of Station Road Arts Collective‘s exciting flagship project, Roamin’ Theatre Roulant, a theatre on wheels with a travelling troupe of actors, musicians and performers. The retrofitted, solar-powered hay wagon performance venue has made appearances throughout Prince Edward County, visiting towns and villages to entertain audiences of all ages with The Boxcar Cowboy, an original stage play by Conrad Beaubien.

Based on a true story, it is one saga of many which forms the chronicle of the region known as Prince Edward County, and tells the story of a teen from Hillier who rode the rails and came to be known across the country as The Boxcar Cowboy. Featuring a new cast with David Burns as Charlie, Georgia Papanicolaou as Abby and Micheline Cox as Maria. Directed by John Burns with Phil Dowling as Production Manager/Lighting Manager.

Their upcoming September performances offer the LAST CHANCE to see The Boxcar Cowboy!

Performances will be held Friday September 2 and Saturday September 3 at 7 PM at Huff Estates Winery and Inn (2274 County Road 1, Bloomfield), as well as Friday September 16 and Saturday September 17 at 7 PM at Rosehall Run Vineyards, 1243 Greer Road, Wellington. Performances are held outdoors and are suitable for all ages. Bring a chair and enjoy the show! This will be the last show of the season and the last chance to see The Boxcar Cowboy, so don’t miss out!

There will also be a special performance fundraiser benefiting Ukrainian children on Saturday September 10 at 7 PM at Benson Park, Picton, in association with 99.3 County FM, The Wellington Times, and the Cobblestone Freeway Foundation

For Ukrainian refugees, and especially children, it is so difficult to adjust to a new life away from home.  Many refugees are still living hundreds of miles away from home, without school or routine, so having a creative outlet is important. Ksenia of the Cobblestone Freeway Foundation and her team of volunteers in Kosiv have been organizing creative classes for displaced children, to provide them with stimulating activities and to bring them some happiness during these difficult times. All donations will support these efforts.
