About Théâtre Roulant

Théâtre Roulant is a division of Station Road Arts Collective, an incorporated, not-for-profit assembly of multi-discipline creators based in Prince Edward County, Ontario. As seasoned professionals from various fields of the arts we combine energies developing and producing new and authentic works in a range of art forms.

Visual artists and artisans, sculptors, painters and playwrights – storytellers all – form our inclusive makeup.

In 2001, we launched our first in a series of original stage plays. The response of audiences since has been heartwarming, demonstrating a want to see stories elevated to the stage that, while universal in appeal, are clearly identified as belonging to the local saga. Integrating the use of animation and film in its productions, the collective has since enjoyed increasing popularity for its inventiveness of performances while highlighting the well honed talent of individuals that call the region of Prince Edward County, Ontario, home.

The summer of 2022 marked the launch of our exciting flagship project “roamin’ Theatre roulant,” a theatre on wheels with a travelling troupe of actors, musicians and performers. Our retrofitted, horse-powered caravan performance venue wanders the outback and side roads of Prince Edward County visiting towns and villages to entertain audiences of all ages. The first play to be featured was The Boxcar Cowboy, an original stage play by Conrad Beaubien.
