Following the 2017 success of The Belle of Amherst, County Roads Theatre Company is pleased to return to Mount Tabor Playhouse with Norm Foster’s On A First Name Basis. County resident and actor Joan McBride returns to the stage in the role of Lucy Hopperstaad, housekeeper to the very successful, but cantankerous novelist David Kilbride, played by Ottawa-based actor John Koensgen.
As the play opens, David discovers that he knows nothing about his housekeeper of 28 years, while Lucy knows absolutely everything about him! He makes it his mission to learn all he can about her. As the night sets in and the drinks start to flow, secrets reveal themselves. With revelations that are surprising, laugh-out-loud funny, and extremely moving, the story invites us to reflect on who we really are, and on the things that are most important to us.
Directed by County resident Fred Robinson, evening performances will be held on September 26, 27, 28, October 3, 4, 5 at 7PM and matinees on September 29, and October 2 at 2PM. Tickets are $35 and available at the door, at Books & Company, and online at countyroadstheatre.ca.
Mount Tabor Playhouse, 2179 County Road 17, Milford.
