Here, Today.
Golden Bliss, Western Honey Bee (Apis mellifera)

Discover the hidden lives of insects in this fascinating photographic art exhibition by emerging artist, GL Barrett.

In ‘Here, Today.’, we meet our unseen neighbours; those who live their lives alongside our own, every day. They ensure our flowers are pollinated, eat the pests that threaten our food, and feed the birds that greet us each morning. Insects are crucial to our survival, yet their lives and looks remain a mystery to most people.

British-born GL Barrett is on a mission to highlight the insect species found in and around Prince Edward County, raising awareness of the importance of these crucial but oft-overlooked creatures. Through a portrait-style photographic approach, GL Barrett’s art goes beyond the super-macro to offer a different view into the lives of these, our unseen neighbours.

Over the past two years, GL Barrett’s art has featured in over a dozen shows, from Kingston to Hamilton. Now, for the first time, they have curated a special collection of works from their impressive portfolio for a solo art show. Artworks included in the show highlight a diverse range of insects, and many will be available to purchase in various formats.
