I find myself instinctively drawn to the fascinating aspects of plant and insect lives, and often seek to the highlight the hidden, the shunned and the strange. I’m inspired by the elegant and the unusual; the glint of something clever hidden in the ordinary that turns everything on its head.
G L Barrett is a British-Canadian artist and writer based in Prince Edward County, Ontario. They work in pixels and points, using typographical shapes and strong colour choices to explore non-traditional forms of storytelling. When creating entomological portraits through photography, they explore the fine lines that vein through nature and dive into the shadows to bring forth the hidden diversity that so often goes unnoticed.
Next Show: Here, Today. is an exhibition of insect portraits that will show you a different view of our unseen neighbours. Through macro photography, GL Barrett highlights the daily, lives of those whom we share this world with.
From the Isle of Wight to Washington DC, to Toronto and now PEC, their journey through life has provided a wealth of experiences that inspire their artistic storytelling. To find out more, visit GLBarrett.com
