The Department of Illumination has teamed up with Kick Start Arts on a new project called Circles of Joy.
Throughout the pandemic it’s been easy to feel disconnected, and moments of joy have felt fleeting. Circles of Joy offers storytelling circles for Prince Edward County and Toronto residents ages 15 and over. These workshops will focus on connection, fun, and the creative process of finding and telling beautiful stories of joy. Throughout December and January, FREE online storytelling circles will be offered. These relaxed and interactive workshops will focus on connection, fun, and the creative process of finding and telling beautiful stories of joy. No prior experience is necessary – everyone has a story to tell!
Thirty stories will be recorded and housed in an online Archive of Joy. A selection of artists from various disciplines will then choose a story from the archive and create an artistic response to it. It could be anything from a dance, a painting, a song, and all of this will culminate in an in-person Festival of Joy in Picton on May 14, 2022.
Registration is available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Visit Kick Start Art’s website to register.
