What are the Indigenous histories of Prince Edward County? Perhaps you already know about the magical beauty of Lake on the Mountain? Bring your own watercraft (kayak, canoe or paddle board) for an on-the-water adventure.
Join Kanien’keha’ka Multidisciplinary Land-based Artist JP Longboat in collaboration with Flight Festival to be guided in a public paddle where we will tune in to the stories offered by the land, wind and water. Meet at the Lake on the Mountain parking lot. Parking passes and snacks provided. This event is free.
Sunday June 2nd, 2024 from 12:30-3 PM, Lake on the Mountain. Please register on Eventbrite.
Canoe Stories is an ongoing series of conversations to share in a collective journey of discovery through cultural stories of place, learning more about the region from the First Nation’s perspective. Most recently, Flight hosted a popular Dynamic Dunes walk at the end of April where over 30 participants joined JP Longboat and Sandbanks Park Staff members in an embodied walk to the “Carrying Place” – the narrowest part of the bar where we imagined Haudenosaunee people would have portaged between West Lake and Lake Ontario.
