The Department of Illumination will take a much-loved public art project into the digital realm for the first time! Boxtopia, an interactive, creative cardboard kingdom for kids, has been reinvented as a fun activity for families who are still practicing physical distancing.
The idea is simple: County families should gather up some cardboard boxes and whatever art supplies are at hand to make a Canada-themed cardboard creation! Between June 17 and July 1, they can post a photo or video of completed creations on the project’s Facebook event page, and the top three entries will win a fantastic prize: a 50-piece Makedo Explore kit of kid-friendly tools for creative cardboard construction. Winners will be announced July 2.

This project is supported with a public art grant from the Prince Edward County Arts Council.
