Barnscapes
Tousled True, S. Big Island Road, by Tara Wilkinson.

ANDARA Gallery presents Barnscapes, an exhibition and sale of new works by Canadian Fine Art Photographer and Digital Artist, Tara Wilkinson, from her barnstorming adventures around Prince Edward County.

Barns are an essential part of the rural landscape. Steeped in history, they’ve long been used for shelter, storage and as a gathering place for the community. There is something about a barn that evokes a feeling of comfort and sanctuary.

Built during a golden age of barn construction, they were straightforward in their design yet built strong enough to last for generations, even centuries. County barns are even more remarkable when you consider the timber that was felled and hand hewn, the rudimentary tools that were used and the community it took to construct them – often in just one weekend.

Tara’s latest body of work captures the essence of County life, both past and present. “Every barn holds a story about courage, strength, craftsmanship, ingenuity and perseverance. If only their walls could talk. My hope is that this show on ANDARA’s gallery walls will help give voice to their incredible stories,” says Tara.

The exhibition, which opened on August 29th, is on display until December 31st, 2024. The exhibition is dedicated to the memory of Tara’s dear friend and County lifetime farmer, the late Clifford Foster of Fosterholm Farms (celebrating its 100th Anniversary in 2024).

ANDARA Gallery is located at 54 Wilson Road, northwest of Bloomfield in the heart of Prince Edward County. The gallery is open daily from 11 AM to 5 PM. For more information, visit andaragallery.com.
