In celebration of International Women’s Day (IWD), County Arts and Alternatives for Women are partnering to engage our community in an artful, meaningful reflection on the 2023 IWD theme: Embrace Equity.
Our team of 3 Artist Facilitators, (Ambivalently Yours, Irene Götz and Vanessa Rieger) will encourage and support participants as they create one 5×7 “Art Card” exploring the Embrace Equity theme, imagining a diverse, equitable, and inclusive world free of bias, stereotypes, and discrimination, where difference is valued and celebrated. Participants will have access to a variety of accessible art supplies for mark-making, painting, collage, and more.
Your art cards will then go on a journey! First, they will travel around the County to various Main Street storefronts to be enjoyed and reflected upon by our community in a temporary public art installation. Then, each participant will receive someone else’s Art Card in their mailbox! The cards will serve as a reminder both of this special experience, and the need for all of us to embrace equity every day.
Space is limited to 30 participants, but all community members aged 13+ are welcome to join; no artistic experience required!
Taking place at the County Arts Lab on March 4th from 2-4 PM. Click here to register.
Important Note – County Arts and Alternatives for Women believe that International Women’s Day is an opportunity to acknowledge the challenges and achievements of women as well as other gender marginalized folx, including transfeminine, transmasculine, non-binary, Two Spirit, and gender non-conforming individuals.
