Join Claire Kyle for this informative talk on building an art collection. Claire manages the art rental and sales department at the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO) and will provide her knowledge and expertise on art market trends. Through her work at the AGO, Claire has nurtured relationships with art dealer partners, artists and curators and is passionate about supporting the work of emerging artists. In this talk, Claire will cover strategies for art investment, budgeting, and understanding your intentions for collecting artwork. Learn about the considerations of managing a collection, and understand the importance of keeping your documentation up to date.
This talk is ideal for anyone interested in learning more about starting an art collection, maintaining an existing collection or for anyone who would like to learn more about how art sales work. The 60-minute presentation will be followed by a Q&A period.

Claire is a first-generation Canadian of Northern Irish parents. She holds an MA in Gallery Studies and Critical Curating from the University of Essex, UK and previous to accepting her current role at the Art Gallery of Ontario in 2016, has worked at Kate MacGarry, Freize London, and Sprüth Magers, London/Berlin. Claire’s work at the AGO allows her to focus and give platform to emerging and mid-career contemporary artists, making their work globally accessible. In addition to managing the department, Claire is responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with art dealer partners, artists and curators for consignment art procurement. She is also responsible for curating in-department exhibitions. Her passion is to create space for emerging contemporary Canadian artists, exploring wide-ranging and interdisciplinary practices. Claire lives and works in Toronto, ON.
