Memory Lost—Photography by Tommy Feiler

Memory Lost is a month-long photography exhibition by Tommy Feiler at the Barlow Room in The Royal Hotel’s Annex Building in Picton. The collection features photographs reworked from Super 8 home movies sourced from eBay, blurring the line between documentary and fiction.

Using a film scanner, Feiler pulls out individual frames from the films, focusing on small, quiet moments you might miss in motion. Each image is altered with a halftone pattern that breaks it apart, reflecting how memory fades or shifts over time. Subtle text is also added, imagined thoughts or reflections of the people in the images. Ultimately, Memory Lost is an exploration of memory, what is found and what is lost.

On exhibition May 2nd-31st, 2026, open Saturdays and Sundays from 11 AM-5 PM in The Barlow Room, The Royal Hotel, (6 Ross St, Picton).
