Sophie Barber is a visual artist born and raised in Prince Edward County whose work explores themes of grief, mortality, and emotional transformation. Through bold acrylic paintings, she combines symbolic imagery, most notably dogs as central figures, to create vibrant, contemplative narratives. Her work often features surreal, dreamlike settings, using vivid colors and emotional tension. By using dogs as stand-ins for herself, she confronts her own struggles with death and the complexity of prolonged grief.
In addition to her painting practice, she is also the label artist for Traynor Family Vineyard.
