I moved to Prince Edward County in 2016 after a long career as a writer/editor in Ottawa. I soon learned that a photograph captured more of the County’s essence than my words. The beauty of nature is astounding – not just the sandy beaches, but the sunrises and waterfowl. I love kayaking and the different visual perspective it offers.
I’ve exhibited at the juried Art in the County show for several years. I’ve also been part of a show at Gallery 121 in Belleville, and had photos in a 2024 show at Arts on Main Gallery. My photos appear monthly in the local Neighbourly News Magazine. I’ve had two solo shows at Sugarbush Vineyards.
Wellington Rotary Beach is my go-to visual place. I walk there daily, year-round. I see photos everywhere: sparkling sun-lit waves, beach fog, snow-whipped waves battering the lighthouse, crazy ice patterns.
You can see more photos on my Facebook page: Sheila Ascroft and on my website: www.sheilaascroft.com. You can also text me at 613-399-2893. I now have a wee gallery in my residence in Wellington. Visitors are welcome by appointment only.
