I’ve lived and worked in Prince Edward County since 2015 and I am originally from Montreal where I studied fine arts and graphic design at Dawson College. Ever since I was a child, art has been a calming escape into my own colourful world. I’ve always been interested in the human face, as well as our relationships to each other and to our natural surroundings. I spent most of my career working in advertising and fashion, and although these environments seem counter-intuitive to true artistic expression, they have profoundly marked my reflections as an artist. I am embarking on a new path to unleash more soul and connectivity in the subjects I choose to portray.
I work mainly with acrylic paint, and I combine tactile materials found in the everyday such as books, textiles and packaging on to canvas. I want the finished works to resemble the patina of posters and murals that live on city walls, all layered, worn and discoloured by time. They are rough, irregular, and uneven to the touch. In short: lived.
