I was born in Edmonton, Alberta, and received a BFA (Art and Design, with distinction) from the University of Alberta. I also received training through summer workshops at the Emma Lake campus of the University of Saskatchewan. I currently reside and work both in Toronto and in Prince Edward County.
Through the years I have explored drawing, sculpture, and painting. I currently make abstract paintings which are based in landscape. I use acrylic paint supplemented by cutouts or textures and employ an iterative process of overpainting, effacing, and subsequent repainting of the shifting imagery. The process traces resilience, stoicism and ultimately survival in the face of distressing conditions; the retention of identity in the face of adversity.
