Introducing Kate Golding
About molly johnson

Hi! I’m Molly. I’m a double Gemini with a round face, a toothy grin, and big brown eyes.

I create performance / images / film / texts / etc. that propose alternative ways to be inside late capitalist society; art that aims to make us see all we already have and all we can already do and be for each other.

Over the past 25 years, I’ve sprained my right ankle six times; offered something of value to some audience members at least some of the time; and (hopefully) made my collaborators laugh in the studio.

I have always danced and continue to do so, though what that looks like is evolving.

SOME NICE PLACES I’VE PRESENTED WORK
dance: made in canada – PS: We Are All Here – SummerWorks – Festival of New Dance – Mile Zero Dance – Theatre Direct – Kinetic Studio Series – The Cape Breton Regional Library – Halifax Fringe Festival

SOME COOL PEOPLE I’VE PERFORMED FOR + WITH
adelheid – Emma Kerson – Forcier Stage Works – Michael Caldwell – Nova Dance – Sabina Perry – Santee Smith – Social Growl – Susie Burpee – Liliona Quarmyne + Zuppa – Lost + Found – Zata Omm

SOME FUN PROJECTS I’VE BEEN A PART OF
creating what remains (w/ Tina Fushell and Meredith Thompson) and b side (w/ Meredith Thompson) – making films with Naomi Jaye and Laura Taler – dancing outdoors for a decade with Dusk Dances – performing in China, Mexico, and across Europe with Montréal’s Danièle Desnoyers / Le Carré des Lombes

SOME OTHER THINGS I’VE DONE
co-directorship of Toronto’s hub14 art + performance from 2017-19 – Dancemakers Peer Learning Network – Generator Performance Criticism Training Program – 8 days 8 jours [a gathering of choreographers] – writer + contributor for The Dance Current, Intermission, and Canadian Theatre Review

In the space between all of the above, I create ceremonies + marry people, hang out with animals, read, eat food, think about eating food, look for places to swim, sing in the ABC Choir, try to lure people to our new home, and work on building a forest.

I’m still figuring out what dancing and making art in the County looks like. Come find me.
