Laura’s paintings are inspired by the natural world, primarily flowers. She explores the flowing forms of petals, reinterpreting them realistically but with a modern approach, sometimes with a graphic quality. Her style is a mixture of soft, blended brushstrokes and carefully placed tightened edges. Laura purposefully looks for the intricacies of the petals shapes and shadows, and doesn’t shy away from brilliant colour. This exploration is with purpose to invoke hope as nature often does. Her faith that these subjects were divinely created bring a sense of joy.
Laura was born and raised in Toronto. After attending Ontario College of Art & Design (OCADU) and earning a diploma in Graphic Design, she worked as a package designer. Years later she began painting full-time at her home studio in the beaches area of Toronto. She regularly visits her property in the County on weekends.
