About Judy Clark

Art has always been an important part of my life. I enjoyed drawing and painting as a child and took art throughout high school. Both of my grandfathers were painters. While I studied business at college and embarked upon a successful career in commercial banking, I continued to take art classes at night school and packed my watercolours on every vacation. When I retired in 2007, it was time to focus on my art. In 2010, I moved to Prince Edward County, an idyllic setting for enhancing creativity.

I have a grand passion for drawing and painting people, bringing their portraits to life and telling stories about their daily experiences. People are my preferred subject. However, I do find inspiration in the beauty of nature too. Although I have explored different mediums, my current favourite is oil. I have exhibited in solo, group and juried shows at various galleries in Ontario, as well as Art in the County. My work has also won awards and is in private collections.

For the five years prior to the pandemic, I ran the Life Drawing Program at the Baxter Arts Centre in Bloomfield and arranged shows for the work produced. I organized the annual Plein Air Paintout at Black River B&B and the juried shows for the East Central Ontario Art Association (ECOAA). In 2021, I became the President of ECOAA and started hosting zoom sessions for the members. The ArtShare meetings feature one of our professional artists demonstrating their techniques. The Open Studio sessions offer members a way to meet up and chat about art and life. It has become an exciting and fulfilling project for me during the Covid lockdowns.
