About Janet Jephcott

I am a multidisciplinary artist expressing in the fine arts in many ways but especially via mask-making, drawing, photography, painting, fabric and beaded art, 3D creations with found items, and jewellery crafting using natural materials.

I am also a Sound Practitioner and singer-songwriter and music teacher. I hold sound healing events, drum circles, and jam circles with acoustic instruments from around the world including guitar and hand drums, gong, Tibetan bowls, Shruti box, African ballaphone, and more. I am also a healing dance/ecstatic dance guide and performer on occasion. In this community, I regularly attend Picton’s Groove Tonic dance, which is a hub to community and central to my personal well being.

What fires my passion in all of these art expressions is my foundational need to deeply connect daily with nature and spirit, and to share that connecting with others in powerful transformative ways: to create music and art together in workshops, opening up natural voices, our innate creativity, and have interesting fun while boosting our confidence in being essential expressions of nature in our daily lives.

My passion draws on my being very happy in nature with a deep spiritual awe since early childhood; one in heart and soul with the trees, beaches, lakes, wild birds, coyotes, bears, loons and more, and my artistic practice reflects this deep connection. I believe as individuals we can reopen this connection, which may have been shut down in our lives. For me this is very personal; I have healed and reconnected to this depth and awareness which got lost in a difficult childhood then reignited as an adult through healing meditation, shamanic psychotherapy with movement, voice, dramatic arts, fine arts, group-created sound healing, natural crafting and ecstatic dancing.

I have helped fundraise for the environment through drum circles and guitar performances. I also performed as a singer in a 20 person music and drama piece under the directorship of my teacher, mentor and decades-long friend, sound practitioner and performer, Gary Diggins, in 2019 at Silence Studio, Guelph to honour a friend’s daughter’s passing.

I was a key choir performer in the Delhi Park pageant by the Department of Illumination in August 2025. I continue to be a member of the ABC Choir. Also in 2025, I began doing my drum circles and SoulSound journeying workshops and healing song circle jams in Prince Edward County, and continue to host them at both the Picton Townhall as well as the Picton Public Library. I plan to expand this in the fall of 2026 to new locations including offering exciting new programs.

I have shown and sold my artwork (paintings, a tapestry, photography) in Guelph, Ontario at the Ebar under curator and friend Eric Montgomery, and also at Silence Studios on Essex street in Guelph, Ontario.

I am new to Prince Edward County and look forward to showing my work in the area.
