Gosia is an artist with a lot of churning in her soul. Her art is rooted in a need to process the world, society and life’s experiences. Her creative process strives to filter out the dark, scary and ugly in search of innocence, beauty and spirituality. She uses figures to poetically personify her emotions. At first glance these figures appear still, but their gentle expressions, graceful gestures and haunting gazes reveal a quiet storm of inner contemplation. She uses various visual symbols, often inspired by nature, to further reveal their inner turmoil. Their striking and resonating quality lies in capturing feelings normally expressed in private, yet she freezes them and allows us to take as long and as close of a look as we want. Inanimate objects become intimate as we see ourselves in them.
Gosia was born in Poland in 1982 and moved to Toronto, Canada in 1994, at the age of twelve. Her background in illustration from Sheridan College in Oakville and her early career as a painter, led her to passion for sculpting. Since fully dedicating herself to this medium in 2013, her sculptural works have been exhibited in galleries and art fairs around the world; from Toronto and Montreal to New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Miami, London, Rome and Moscow, just to name a few.
Gosia’s sculptures have been featured in numerous publications such as Hi-Fructose Magazine, Create Magazine, Steadfast Art Magazine, Canadian Interiors Magazine and House and Home Magazine.
She is currently living and working in Prince Edward County, Canada.
