
Gin Sexsmith is a novelist and songwriter from Deseronto, Ontario and a member of the Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte First Nation. Introspective, unapologetic, and forever for the girls, Gin’s work explores love, identity, sexuality, trauma, and mental illness through a speculative lens. Her debut novel, In the Hands of Men, was published in May 2023 by Gilded Press, with its audiobook released on Audible in June 2024, narrated by Kawennáhere Devery Jacobs, and voted Top 20 Best of the Year. The novel is currently being developed into a TV series. The sequel to In the Hands of Men, titled Medicine for Strength, is set to be released fall 2026 with a corresponding audiobook. She is the editor for Canadian Geographic’s Discovery Language series which explores stories of Indigenous language preservation and revitalization.
