Gail Henderson is a visual artist focusing on painting and drawing. She graduated with an Honours BFA and a B.Ed from York University. During her career as a teacher and practising artist, her work has ranged from abstract to figurative. Her most recent work returns to her roots and first love, abstraction. Her work is inspired by daily life and nature, observing the push/pull of freedom and restraint.
“My current work explores the tension created between the desire for calm and stillness vs the movement and structure of everyday life. My aim is to produce work that expresses the balance and harmony of these conditions. My paintings use colour, texture and mark making to express these themes. In addition, I often work in a series, repeating key symbols and structures.
My work can be found in small galleries, on Instagram and in private collections.”
